Hi, I’m Michael Fiyeri. I spent 20 years behind a computer screen — in engineering, IT roles, and corporate banking.
I became good at spreadsheets, projections, and dashboards… but I just got tired of the office grind and long commute.
When I switched my major to forestry in college, I thought it’d be simpler. In my first job out of college I knew more about computers than the older guys, which took me into finance and IT, away from the woods and the good ole boy culture that I connected with. Now I’m 44, and had enough of corporate life.
What’s different now:
This is basically a second career for me. One where I get to breathe air, meet neighbors face-to-face, and work with my hands. I get to choose who I work with and stay away from who I don’t. Tree care lets me do something real, and something that can’t be offshored or automated. At least yet, in the year 2026!
My goal:
I’m aiming to pass the ISA Certified Arborist exam. That certification will let me not just say “tree service,” but arborist.
