FAQ For Homeowners

We talk with lots of homeowners about their trees, so we thought it would be a great idea we answered some of their questions here:

Tree removal is expensive, and it is totally understandable that people ask a lot of questions, and want to make the right decision. Here are some of the questions we get.

Question: We need someone to climb high in a tree and hang a tree swing. Do you guys do that?

Answer: Yes. We can do that.

Q: Our cat got stuck in a tree. Will you come in emergency and get her down?

A: Yes. We can do that.

Q: There is a huge limb hanging over house. How can you remove the limb so it doesn’t fall on our house during a storm?

A: Yes. We can do that. We have rope and pulley system we use called rigging. The ropes redirect away from the house as we cut limb. We also have winches and can sub crane when limb needs lifted up away from house before lowered.

Q: This tree looks like it’s dying. Can you save it?

A: Yes. We offer Plant Health Care Services (PHC). For example, if it’s a white ash tree we and inject it once every two years. We also often do deep root fertilization which is just like it sounds. This often helps extend the life of your tree significantly.

Q: That tree looks funny. Did someone trim it back the wrong way?

A: Yes. That is common. We are ISA Certified Arborists and practice proper pruning techniques. Whatever tree service you hire, make sure they are certified.

Q: So i agree this tree is dying. Can i put off the expense of getting it removed as money is tight now?

A: Yes you can put off taking this tree out. It’s not in immediate danger of falling on your house or fence. However, as it further decays over the coming years, it will no longer be safe to climb and remove. The tree company will have to bring in a lift which adds to the total removal cost. So it’s actually cheaper to take it out now.

Q: In Charlotte, it’s so cool how all the homes hang Christmas light balls in their trees. My wife and i made some Christmas balls but having trouble getting them in our trees because the limbs are so high up. Can you help with that?

A: Yes. We can help with that.

Q: Do you plant trees?

A: Yes we plant trees for homeowners.

Q: Do you sell Christmas trees?

A: No, we don’t sell Christmas trees. Ashe County, NC has the best Christmas tree farms. We suggest you drive from Charlotte up there late November and early December. Lots of places up there and all cheaper than in Charlotte Metro. Those trees only grow in the mountains and don’t grow in NC Piedmont.

Q: What does it mean to be licensed and insured?

A: “Licensed” means a company has state business license. We are in North Carolina so you can look anyone up at: https://secretaryofstate.com/north-carolina/. If they are not licensed with NC Secretary of State then they are operating business without a license and subject to fines and misdemeanor charges. For “Insured” there are two main types on insurance that tree companies have. General Liability and Workman’s Comp. If a company does not have GL and one of the workers gets injured, the homeowner is liable for their medical bills. WC is not required for residential tree jobs but most commercial jobs require it. If a company has WC it means if a worker gets hurt on the job, the WC insurance will pay their medical bills and missed wages. So companies with WC are in general more legit.
